January 24-31: News Literacy Weeks 3-4. Winter Art from Europe

Weeks 3 and 4 of our News Literacy Project course will finish Dr. Kat’s pyramid of levels of scientific evidence and move onto the next step, which is learning how to search like a pro!!. Here is a link to that pyramid of scientific levels of evidence: Scientific Evidence Pyramid.

It is important to understand that there are degrees of persuasion for your beliefs. Fake news and false or misleading information also targets your beliefs. What will convince you a claim is true?

In Week 4, we will learn from an ex-CIA Information Analyst—-a genuine spy!

You have many unexamined beliefs, and there are many claims to either unseat your beliefs or put false beliefs into your belief fortress!

Learning how to correctly evaluate levels of evidence or degrees of persuasion is one of the most valuable skills you can acquire in life. I look forward to learning more of Dr. Kat’s pyramid of levels of scientific evidence with you!

Our Week 4 class will also spend about 30 minutes on European Winter Art. There are many classical, neo-classical, and modern art examples of Winter Art from Europe and about Europe.
