April 26, 2025: AI in 4 steps from online text to picture creation

Image credit: ChatGPT from 4 supplied prompts.

We will use AI in 4 steps:

1) Use an online book (we first take turns reading aloud from the selection) and get ChatGPT to take 3 paragraphs from that book, rewrite them using only 8th grade English vocabulary, and then we will again take turns reading aloud from the updated writing provided by ChatGPT.

2) Use ChatGPT to rewrite these paragraphs as lyrics. The class will then take turns reading aloud from this lyric writing.

3) Use Suno AI to write a song using those lyrics and a voice we choose from the Suno AI menu.

4) Get ChatGPT to use these lyrics to compose a picture or a painting. Students will submit their prompts to alter the picture or painting in the chat, and Mr Ian will add that prompt; this process will continue until we are satisfied with the picture or painting that represents all the work from online text to finished picture!

The purpose of this week's session is to teach students to focus on prompt writing. A secondary goal will teach students how to use the tools available to check ChatGPT for accuracy.

Dao, Eric, Aries, and myself will supply the theme sentences for each run of ChatGPT; students will supply the prompts.

Students will prompt ChatGPT to write paragraphs using our vocabulary lists at igee2016.com.

Students will refine the answers that ChatGPT produces by writing and refining their prompts.

This process of refinement will continue until the student is satisfied that ChatGPT produced a result that matches the intention of the student given in the prompt.
